For our International Entrepreneurship and Development minor, we will travel to Bukoba, Tanzania, to work with Faraja Spring Water, a local start-up. Our mission is to help provide safe, affordable, and locally sourced drinking water to the Kagera region.
Currently, the water quality does not meet safety standards for consumption. We will develop and implement a sustainable water filtration system to improve water quality, involving advanced filters to adjust pH, remove iron, and enhance oxygen levels. This system will include pipes, a water tank, and efficient filtration to ensure the water meets required drinking standards before distribution.
Additionally, we aim to establish a sustainable recycling strategy for used water bottles. By creating a system for collecting and reusing bottles, we will reduce waste, support environmental sustainability, and promote a circular economy in the community. Our work will positively impact both the business and the local environment.
