Hello from the Galápagos Islands!
We are Douwe, Michiel, Bas, and Jurriaan, and we’re collaborating with fishers on Santa Cruz Island to tackle challenges in the seafood industry. One of our main focuses is addressing parasites like Anisakis, which pose risks to human health and the local economy. By improving fish safety practices and raising awareness, we aim to protect both the community and the sustainability of the industry.
In addition, we’re turning fish waste into valuable products, working to create a circular economy for the seafood industry. We are working on three circular solutions: fish leather, collagen, and fertilizer, which can all be produced from fish waste using natural processes! Our mission is to transform waste into business opportunities, with the Galapaguanians leading the way!
