Hi!
It’s been a few weeks since we arrived in Liberia, and we’re excited to share an update on our progress with Emergi.
We’ve been diving deeper into the daily routines of the female Kekeh drivers and learning about their needs to co-create the solar charging solution. By spending time with the drivers, like Hawa, we’ve seen how unreliable charging options affect their daily work and income. Their input is most important in designing a charging station that truly supports their schedules and income.
On the technical side, we’ve been meeting with local solar companies and experts, such as the Director of Climate Change & Environment at the Ministry of Transport. These meetings have helped us shape our solar charging model using locally available materials and technologies. Additionally, we’re working on a model and calculations for the charging station, ensuring it’s both effective and affordable.
In the following weeks we will make a final deal with the solar panel company, and the solar panels will be installed on the roof! Then, we can test if our charging schedule works in real life.
Greetings from Monrovia!
