From Circular Communities to regenerative economies, a holistic case study on the Galapagos Archipelago

Location: Galapagos Islands, Ecuador |

Hi! It’s Noa, a passionate and creative student who loves fostering collaboration towards sustainable solutions. With a background in product design and anthropology, my work is centered around human experiences. My current studies is in Industrial Ecology, where I am learning to quantify the human relationship with our planet and nature around us. The project for which I am supported by Students 4 Sustainability is my thesis project for which I will travel to the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador. On the Galapagos, I will explore the possibility of setting up so-called regenerative entrepreneurship opportunities together with the inhabitants who work in the local food sector intending to limit human pressures on the ecosystem and decrease the dependency on mainland Ecuador for goods and produce. I will apply different kinds of participatory methods in my research to ensure engagement and longevity of the outcomes as, above all, it is really important to me to include local knowledge and expertise when finding solutions. I am beyond excited to be able to do this project!
