Over the past few weeks, a great deal has happened with our project, and we’d like to
update you on the progress.
Thanks to thorough preparations, the construction could officially begin. The materials have been delivered and are safely stored in the school. This marked the first major step, and shortly afterward, work on-site commenced. The foundation has been excavated, columns have been placed, and the area has been prepared for further construction activities. What is particularly special is that community members have actively contributed after the initial start. On the first day, we worked alongside them and accomplished a great deal, but soon, they took matters into their own hands. It’s incredible to see how they are taking responsibility for this project.
In addition to the construction itself, we’ve had intensive discussions with the Junta, the group that will ultimately be responsible for the project. Together, we’ve outlined a clear division of responsibilities to ensure smooth progress and a sustainable future for the building. The tasks are divided as follows:
Construction: Coordination of the work during the construction phase, such as monitoring progress and organizing additional support when needed.
Maintenance: After the project is completed, a team within the Junta will be responsible for maintaining the building, including any repairs and improvements.
Rental: To ensure the building is optimally utilized, a specific group will handle rentals. This will not only generate income but also ensure the facilities are used effectively.
Cleaning: Another team will take responsibility for cleaning and the daily upkeep of the building, ensuring it remains a safe and pleasant environment.
This clear division of tasks provides confidence that the project will not only be successfully
completed but also well-managed in the long term. The energy and commitment from everyone – from the builders to the Junta and the community – is heartwarming and inspires confidence in the success of this project. We are looking forward to the remainder of the construction process and hope it continues to progress smoothly.
