Hi!
The first weeks were dedicated to meeting people and assessing the situation. Everywhere we visited, we were warmly welcomed by groups of children who were very happy to see us.
This was also the case in Makonkarie, where we spoke with women who are currently processing palm kernels manually, producing small amounts of oil at a very slow pace. It was clear how much they longed for a more efficient way to process the oil.
We also visited several villages where palm kernel oil is processed using machines. Our focus was on identifying potential improvements to these machines, so they could be implemented in Makonkarie with as few issues as possible. During these visits, we spoke with and interviewed local people, quickly realizing what a significant advancement mechanical processing of palm kernels represents.
In close collaboration with Finic Industries, we have started building the machines: one machine for pressing palm kernel oil and another for producing biodiesel from the oil to power the press. We also addressed questions about maintenance and common issues with similar machines.
Currently, we are working hard on constructing the building where the machines will be housed. We are also creating a large poster to visually guide machine operators on how to use the machine. Additionally, a user manual is being prepared, detailing how to maintain the machine step by step.
In the coming weeks, we hope to complete the project and provide training to the machine operators. We’ll also be available to answer any questions they may have. With this, we are confident in the successful completion of the project!
