On our first day in Kenia, we were introduced and warmly welcomed by the team of ICIPE and KEMRI. Together they presented their ongoing and previously executed research. After that, we presented our research plan for the next month which was received with enthusiasm. After the meeting we were given a tour of the facilities at ICIPE.
On our second day, we spent most of the day discussing and designing a cage to hold our sand flies during testing. This was something we didn’t expect to be doing, however, we don’t mind being involved in the process.
In the first week, we should be running most of our tests and hopefully gain some valuable insights and results. So far, the team have been really helpful and have cooperated in thinking along with our research.
We are very excited for next week’s tests out in the field!
