During the last two weeks, we’ve primarily been working on finishing the design before South Africa’s Christmas break. Together with the University of Johannesburg we worked on finding the optimal design for the Siyakhana.
It was quite a challenge to figure out what which design work best because the accumulated biowaste at the garden is quite low. We decided that implementing a balloon digester at the Siyakhana Garden would be the best solution. Besides its durability and relatively ease of use, a small version would still give good results and high quality biofertilizer.
Besides designing we also had a fantastic school visit. We went to the Monde Primary school which just recently installed a biodigester. Since a couple of months, they are able to provide the students with food, cooked on their own biogas.
