UPDATE II: Improved circularity in palm kernel oil production

Hey!

The final phase of the project went really well. During the New Year period, we worked hard to construct a building where the machines could be installed. After a lot of effort to transport the machines from Freetown to the building in Makonkari, they were installed on a concrete base to absorb vibrations. This layer had to cure for two weeks. During these two weeks, our team worked diligently on creating user and maintenance manuals.

These manuals were carefully designed to be understandable for the people in the village, using plenty of visuals. Additionally, instructional videos were created for various maintenance tasks, enabling even those with limited literacy skills to learn.

We tested these manuals in the village to improve them and ensure they remain useful in the future. Using these manuals, we conducted training sessions, during which a group of three machine operators attended to learn about the use and maintenance of the machines.

After putting up a promotional poster and saying goodbye to our Sierra Leonean colleagues and friends, we look back with big smiles on an enjoyable two and a half months with a successful outcome!
